Don’t Let Your Mind
Control You

Here’s a blind spot most people don’t want to look at: we say we have a growth mindset and strong self-awareness, yet we still allow certain areas of our lives to stay negative.

You say you’re abundant, but you constantly complain about money. You practice gratitude, but criticize people and circumstances. You say you’re accepting, yet carry resentment toward your partner. This isn’t about shame – it’s about alignment.

Awareness isn’t selective. If your mind still runs certain parts of your life, then in those areas, it’s still in control.

Your mind is a powerful tool, but it isn’t your identity. When your thoughts dictate your mood, tone, and reactions, you’ve handed authority to patterns shaped by the past. They feel justified. They feel reasonable. But they’re still reactive.

Awakening isn’t about eliminating negative thoughts. It’s about not automatically obeying them.

When you catch yourself being negative, pause and separate the thought from reality. A thought is an interpretation, not a fact. Look beneath it – what fear is this protecting? Then take responsibility. Not blame, but ownership. How might you be participating in what you’re complaining about?

Choose a higher frame. Not toxic positivity, but a more expansive interpretation. Then act differently. Interrupt the pattern. Shift your tone. Respond as the version of you who is growing, not defending.

Alignment is when awareness turns into power.

Real awakening isn’t how peaceful you feel in meditation. It’s how you respond when you’re triggered.

Don’t let your mind cherry-pick where you evolve. Notice it. Rise above it. Lead from something deeper than habit or fear.
