Are You Aligned With
What You Promise?
Ardavan Javid • Feb 18, 2026
Most people only keep their promises out of desperation, or because there’s something to gain.
It becomes transactional.
“I’ll show up if it benefits me.”
“I’ll get help if you promise to stay.”
“I’ll stop eating junk food because I had a heart attack.”
But integrity isn’t a transaction. It’s an alignment.
When someone breaks their word, it’s rarely about you.
It’s usually a reflection of the distance between who they say they are, and who they actually are.
A promise requires presence.
A promise requires self-trust.
A promise requires alignment.
And many people haven’t yet built a strong enough relationship with themselves to honor what they speak or promise.
Your word is energy.
It’s a creative force.
When you give it lightly, you weaken your own foundation. When you honor it – especially when it’s inconvenient – you strengthen your character and your spirit.
Don’t keep your word out of fear. Don’t keep your word out obligation.
Keep your word and promises because you are in harmony with who you say you are.
That’s power.
